The Channel of the Alpha

Gate 7 (Role of the Self) sits in the G Center. It is oriented toward the future, able to see when society's direction needs correcting. it as logic's gate of direction, the power behind the throne. Its six lines name six genetic leadership roles: The Authoritarian, The Democrat, The Anarchist, The Abdicator, The General, and The Administrator. Your role is genetic and mechanical. You do not choose it.

Gate 31 (Influence) sits in the Throat Center. Its voice says "I lead." It provides vision for new direction and shows others how to achieve it without doing it for them. Collective leadership through Gate 31 is collegial, not hierarchical. The voice is not heard until backed by the energy of the majority. The people must act on what the voice says.

This channel is not connected to a motor. The teachings is clear about what this means: you have no energy to do the work yourself. Your power is in pointing direction. You influence rather than command. You must be elected by the majority to make things happen. Your vision requires others to act on it.

As The teachings puts it: leading from a position of influence rather than one of absolute authority is key to your success and to maintaining your sense of well-being. Logic's answers are rarely universally correct or long-lasting. At any moment the pattern could be challenged or become weak or break down. Leadership tenure is determined by performance evaluation.

a wolf analogy: it is said of wolves that not all alphas lead packs, but no true alpha will stay in a pack led by another alpha. If you have Channel 7-31, you may not become a community or national leader. But you will naturally seek your own arena of influence, your own pack where you can lead.

Once you find it, you bring attention to qualities essential to keeping society on track. You can only point the way for others. You cannot do it for them. Those with leadership definition have a much better chance of success if they are leading the right people under the right circumstances, part of the same established pattern, with shared Collective context.

a specific corruption: when money is the energy used to move a person into a position of power instead of the cooperative will of the people, the Collective's ability to ensure humanity's future is easily perverted. The democratic process, as it, says: "I will represent you and share leadership with you is long as you are doing what I tell you to do, because I am right."

The not-self pattern is forcing your way into leadership without invitation, which produces leadership for bad: manipulation, resistance, and corruption. An empty voice (Gate 31 without Gate 7) seems like just that. Power behind the throne only (Gate 7 without Gate 31) leaves you as a public leader but not the figurehead who directly influences the Collective.
