Pushing Upward

Ra's teaching on Gate 46 makes a distinction that changes how good fortune is understood. What looks like luck from the outside is the result of dedication, embodiment, and complete engagement with experience for its own sake. Art for art's sake. Creativity pursued because it fulfills you, not because of where it might lead. The person who does the work in obscurity, committed fully to the experience, eventually gets discovered — not because they sought discovery, but because the dedication itself creates an aura that recognition finds. Forcing outcomes short-circuits the process. The gate's intelligence operates through surrender to what the higher self already knows about direction.

When Gate 46 connects with Gate 29 in the Sacral Center, the Channel of Discovery forms. Gate 29 provides the sacral "yes" — the commitment to enter experience even without knowing where it leads. Gate 46 connects that commitment to the direction of the G Center's higher self. Together they create someone who enters experiences without a roadmap, releases fully into the depth of what they're living, and emerges with wisdom that only comes from having gone all the way through. The design succeeds where others fail because it doesn't stop mid-experience to ask "why am I unlucky?" It stays in until completion, then reflects.

Gate 46's love of the body is not about physical appearance or performance. It is about the body as the vehicle through which life is experienced — a temple that, when honored and inhabited fully, puts you exactly where you need to be. Being fully embodied means taking the physical, sensual reality of existence seriously: what your body responds to, where it wants to go, what it resists. This gate's direction comes through the body's orientation in life, not through the mind's planning. Following the body's knowing is what creates the serendipitous encounters and unexpected recognitions that others call lucky.

Line 1 (Being Discovered) does the work for its own sake and gets found — trying to be recognized is the trap that delays discovery. Line 2 (Prima Donna) is demanding and difficult but genuinely talented; the depth wins out despite the behavior. Line 3 (Projection) must maintain the patterns that brought success without being pulled away mid-experience by someone tapping the shoulder, breaking the flow. Line 4 (Impact) rises rapidly once recognized, but risks forgetting the people who made that recognition possible. Line 5 (Pacing) is what Ra called the weakest fifth line of all 64 hexagrams — extremely vulnerable to being projected upon and conditioned into repeating what worked once but will eventually stop working. Line 6 (Integrity) learns the hard way about making commitments that compromise direction, eventually developing the discernment to say no to anything that would pull it off its path.
