Ra identified the gate's Neptune foundation as veiled: people with this gate often engage in difficult situations without fully knowing why, then find after the fact that their instinct was correct. The fighting is not strategic in a planning sense; it is psychically attuned. The challenge is that the individual circuit is specifically not designed to receive influence. Wherever an individual gate exists in the chart, influence is structurally blocked. Gate 38 will oppose anything that tries to redirect or correct its process — not out of stubbornness as character flaw, but as biological protection of individual integrity.

Ra noted that many people with the 28-38 channel have histories involving violence — they bring struggle and, to varying degrees, get it back. Line 2 (Politeness) survives by keeping the fight manageable. Discretion and politeness are strategic, not servile, for this line — they are survival tools that prevent the full destructive potential of the gate from being activated unnecessarily. Line 4 (Investigation) is the most aggressive in response to influence attempts. Ra described a kind of five-year-old energy: "Who the hell are you to tell me anything?" This reaction is not juvenile — it is the individual circuit defending its autonomy at a cellular level.

What is actually worth struggling for? Gate 38 must answer this question to function correctly. The gate's shadow is fighting everything, indiscriminately — Mars detriment as general rule opposition. The gift is fighting selectively, recognizing the one thing that proves life has meaning and directing all available fuel toward it. Ra pointed to Gate 38 Line 6 as the most mutative individual gate (after Gate 3): the knowing that emerges at the sixth line is brand new, unexplainable, and tends to drive the collective to frustration because it arrives without justification.
